    Summary

    The Service Desk Technician’s role is to ensure proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end-user help requests and escalating incidents when considered appropriate and necessary to maintain SLA expectations. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as requiring that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.

                         Provide first contact support of incoming requests to the service desk via telephone, web portal, email, and chat to ensure courteous, timely, and effective resolution of end-user issues

                         Build rapport and elicit problem details from internal customers

                         Prioritize incidents and service requests according to defined processes to meet defined SLAs

                         Escalate incidents with accurate documentation to suitable IT team when required

                         Record, track, and document the service desk incident-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made and actions taken, through to final resolution

                         Use remote tools and diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting

                         Research solutions through internal and external knowledgebase as needed

                         Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization

                         Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level when remote tools are not appropriate, including hardware repairs, delivery of peripherals, or other fixes as determined

    Principal Accountabilities

    This position will work as part of a diverse and integrated team, developing algorithms for autonomous vehicles within a DevSecOps framework. While algorithm development and testing is primary, this position may include writing and testing software in several high-level languages; configuring and testing hardware systems; developing and testing software applications from concept to implementation; and performing systems integration and testing for technology maturation. There may be flexibility to work remotely for some portion of the job, but the majority of the work will be performed on-site in Dayton, OH as part of a larger team.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • BS degree plus 8 years of relevant experience, OR MS degree plus 7 years of relevant experience
    • Ability to work as part of a diverse technical team
    • Ability to develop deployable software in C/C++/Java
    • Ability to use Docker and Kubernetes
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Ability to obtain US SECRET clearance

    Preferred Qualifications

    While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

    • BS (or higher) degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
      Past leadership experience and/or willingness to take on leadership responsibilities as the opportunity and need arises
      Demonstrated experience working in a DoD-funded research environment
      Demonstrated experience working with DevSecOps environments including GitLab
      Demonstrated experience working with container-based software design including Docker and Kubernetes
      Demonstrated experience integrating disparate software components into a single, coherent system
      Demonstrated experience supporting lab and flight testing of integrated software systems
