    Information Technology Specialist

    Position Purpose To develop and implement technology-based solutions to streamline workflow and improve efficiency of work processes performed by Foundation Staff. Deliver training and support for all IT applications, including training and documentation. Expert resource responsibilities for Microsoft Office 365 (O365) applications. Primary help desk support for both hardware and software.

    Key Responsibility:  Applications Support           

    ·         Basic understanding of the Foundation’s enterprise software (FoundationPower) and SalesForce CRM.

    ·         Expert understanding of O365 application.

    ·         Compile and maintain an accurate inventory for hardware and software, including security certificates.

    ·         Install and update company software and hardware as needed.

    ·         Participate in the testing and implementation of enhancements and new systems.

    ·         Set up and maintain user system access according to established procedures.

    ·         Develop written communication and documents for all user groups.

    ·         Monitor vendor contracts to ensure that requirements are being met and process invoices according to established procedures.

    ·         Provide assistance with set up, troubleshooting issues with mobile devices that are integrated with Foundation network.

    ·         Conduct file maintenance activities and develop file naming standards.

    ·         Support all virtual meeting tools and provide expert level training.

    ·         Stay abreast of the latest developments in information technology and skills development.

    Key Responsibility:   Customer Service

    ·         Log, track and respond to help desk requests for assistance from internal users with issues related to hardware and software applications; troubleshoot and resolve issues; or escalating issues to Managed IT Services vendor and other consultants when necessary.

    ·         Track the progress of service and problem resolutions.

    ·         Provide excellent customer service to internal staff, donors, vendors and other pertinent parties.

    ·         Proactively communicate IT solutions, tips, and, enhancements to all staff in order to advance the capabilities of all users.

    ·         Perform routine cross-departmental support tasks such as donor statement uploads, Logiform development and maintenance and other periodic reports.

    Key Responsibility:   Training on Software Applications

    ·         Identify Foundation staff’s IT training needs.

    ·         Develop and conduct training sessions in one on one and group format.

    ·         Develop and disseminate independent self-learning training tools such as videos, HowTo Documents etc.

    Key Responsibility: Web Based Projects

    ·         Familiarity with HTML web coding with the ability to upload content to website and maintain site, as directed.

    ·         Ability to navigate search engines and perform web analytics and create elementary graphics.

    Key Responsibility:  Risk Management and Other Assigned IT Projects

    ·         Assist with monitoring and maintaining necessary operating system/application backups of computer system.

    ·         General knowledge of cyber security prevention techniques and compliance with internal, regulatory or insurance requirements.

    ·         Preparation of insurance applications and related documents.

    ·         Assist with inventory reporting and valuation as well as creating security measures.

    ·         Assist Director of Information Systems with special projects as assigned.

    Education and Work Experience

    Associate or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems or related field and minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of job-related experience.  Experience working in a customer serving position.  Nonprofit organization or community foundation background preferred; OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

    Knowledge and Skills

    Position Summary

    Responsible for oversight of all new fiber activity on the network.  This responsibility includes planning, engineering, and installation of aerial and underground fiber optic facilities to support customer growth and network optimization.  This individual will conduct site surveys, engineer the customer requested solution and manage installation activity.  The Outside Plant Engineer will have a key role in cultivating Horizon’s relationships with local municipalities and utility agencies.  A successful candidate will possess the ability to manage multiple projects against specific timelines. Individual must have strong organizational and communication skills necessary to identify project dependencies and complete deliverables throughout fiber construction lifecycle. 

    Essential Job Functions

    • OSPE must have knowledge of aerial, buried, underground and building entrance design.
    • OSPE will support the design and engineering process by planning and preparing drawings for construction of new or rearrangement of existing fiber optic cables, and conduits to obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities.
    • OSPE must be able to read and understand highway/road prints, be able to identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, and select routing required for work projects.
    • OSPE may be required to provide on-site construction inspection to ensure design specifications are met by the construction contractor. Further duties will include but are not limited to redlines, bore design, CAD, and make-ready analysis, field notes, pole survey, sonde conduit, locating, QC prints, butterfly drawings, and preparation of prints.
    • Familiar with project-based CAPEX budgeting concepts, management and forecasting.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Competent in industry standard fiber mapping tools:  Google Earth, .KMZ file creation/modification and fiber inventory systems management i.e.  OSPInsight. Mapcom, Network Express etc..
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to track, prioritize, and complete multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
    • Analytical and research skills.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and work with others in a team environment.

This program shall be in compliance and strategically aligned with University, UDRI, National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) and other required standards.
    • Provide support and ongoing reinforcement of continuous improvement philosophies related to changes and advances in technology, cybersecurity, secure information practices, and compliance.
    • Lead, mentor, develop, and retain a highly qualified team of IT professionals. This includes hiring, training, staff development, performance management, and annual performance reviews.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, transparency, and accountability in the UDRI Technology Office.
