I'd like to invite you to be part of our school-wide STEM Design Challenge on Friday, February 2nd at the Dayton Regional STEM School! We're excited to host a great experience for all students at STEM in just a few weeks. Here are a few ways to engage with our students during the challenge - choose one... or both!

    1. VOLUNTEER FOR DESIGN CHALLENGE DAY ON FRIDAY, 2/2
    2. PROVIDE ADVICE AND INSIGHT VIA SURVEY TO HELP SPARK PROJECT IDEAS

Full details can be found below, or click here to sign up now for either one!

    IN-PERSON:

On Friday, Feb 2nd, we are asking partners and volunteers to join us at the STEM School from 10:30am-3:30pm to provide support, insight, and feedback as students work on the Design Challenge. Our students are being asked to answer the driving question - HOW CAN DRONES BE USED TO SOLVE A PROBLEM AND/OR ENRICH THE EXPERIENCE OF PEOPLE IN THE DAYTON REGION? Small student groups will create pitches and simulations using the tech to present their ideas.

Professional partners with any area of expertise are encouraged to participate. All student groups are expected to interact with a partner twice as they work through the Design Thinking Process and complete the challenge. When students come to see you, they may be asking technical, project management, career-focused, or just general questions regarding their projects. As I mentioned, all areas of expertise are welcome - so part of the student's goal is investigating who is the right partner for their inquiry. You will be provided a table in our Centerpoint Innovation Lab as your "home base", which you are welcome to set up career fair-style (table banner, materials, etc.) or bring equipment, demos, or other interactive activities for students. At the end of the day, partners will watch final pitches/simulations, provide feedback, and help us choose winners!

Here is the link to sign up as a Design Challenge partner. Please feel free to pass along to your team. The more the merrier! https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=jzeSxNtx90yA25jIPawhl8r6tmqXmvZOqSRtTRxyzgVUNUYzMlQxREhXS0NOT1lYOUlTODRCSEQ1VS4u

    SURVEY:

Aside from on-site partners on February 2nd, we're also looking for some quotes/insight/advise from partners to share with students as they begin the challenge. This will be compiled into a slideshow with your organization logo included. A survey to collect these partner narratives is included in the sign-up form. If you do not want to be an in-person partner, you can bypass the sign-up section and jump directly to the narrative section.

Please let me know if you have any questions at all. Feel free to forward this request on to colleagues. Thank you so much for your support for this year's Design Challenge. We hope to see you on February 2nd!
