  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
  • virtual- Zoom

You are invited to join SOCHE for a virtual lunch and learn entitled “AI Tools to Make Class Activities More Accessible for Students with Learning Challenges,” on Friday, Sept. 12, beginning at 12 p.m. ET, via Zoom. The session will be presented by Dr. Muhammad Ali Yousuf and Dr. Nicole Belfiore from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.

This session will share a variety of innovative artificial intelligence (AI) tools that show significant potential in enhancing the experience of students with learning challenges. These tools, some of which are already available and others actively in development, leverage the power of AI to address a range of challenges. These include the creation of art for the visually impaired; support for students with dyslexia/dyscalculia; writing tools for students with dysgraphia, etc.

Learn about activities that consider different learning styles, abilities, and limitations of the students, with the help of AI. A brief presentation will follow with a group discussion on the limitless possibilities.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the current landscape of AI tools that support students with diverse learning challenges, including visual, hearing, and language-related disabilities.
  • Identify key privacy, security, and ethical considerations – such as data collection risks, profiling, and algorithmic bias.
  • Engage in collaborative dialogue to explore additional challenges AI could address.
  • Formulate actionable recommendations for educators and policymakers to promote safe, equitable, and privacy-conscious implementation of AI in education.

Empower your students with innovative AI tools that bolster diverse learning needs. Reserve your spot today and be part of the conversation shaping supportive education for all learners!

Registration for this training will close on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
