Montgomery County's data ecosystem driving decisions for behavioral health treatment
Since 2018, Montgomery County ADAMHS, Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County, and the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association Members partnered with Ascend Innovations to develop a collaborative data and digital strategy, and build a data ecosystem. Ascend Innovations has worked to bring together community data sources and provide a 360◦ view of patients as they pass through a recovery-oriented system of care. ADAMHS uses the products discussed here to monitor the health of the safety net in Montgomery County, the patterns of system use, and the quality of the care delivered.

Caitlin Meadows, Ascend Innovations
At Ascend Caitlin leads and manages the company’s Data Science team with responsibilities ranging from overseeing thedevelopment of machine learning products to working with clients to provide analysis around the impact of their business on community health. She received her PhD in Geophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago, which focused on using unconventional data sources to study Arctic climate change and marine biology. During Caitlin’s PhD, she was a member of several large interdisciplinary research teams to describe and predict changes in complex biological systems.
Vignesh Arasu, Ascend Innovations
Vignesh received his M.S. in Business Analytics and Data Science at the University of Cincinnati, which is a top-rated Analytics program providing students with expertise in descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. During Vignesh’s Masters, he took coursework in Statistical Modeling and Probability, Data Mining, Optimization, and more that has helped him excel in the workforce. Vignesh combined his passion for sports with Data Science to complete his capstone in graduate school using the concept of ‘Moneyball’ to help predict which factors are most influential in baseball teams winning regular season games to make the playoffs each season. At Ascend, Vignesh is a Data Scientist that uses his predictive modeling, machine learning, data wrangling, and feature engineering skills to provide the Southwest Ohio and Dayton area counties and hospitals, hospices, MHRB’s, and more with advanced analytical insights key for decision making and in impacting businesses on issues related to community health.
Simaant Patil, Ascend Innovations
Simaant is a part of the Data Science team at Ascend and his responsibilities include creating dashboards and performing data analytics using healthcare data to measure its impact on community health . He received his Master's in Information Management and Data Science from Syracuse University. During this time, he had internships focused on data analytics which made him familiar with health and public data. At Ascend, Simaant has worked on multiple projects with a cross-functional team and is using this experience to build upon his technical skills.
