    Speaker: Marcus Thompson, Expedient Technology Solutions

    This session will review real-life local examples of cybersecurity incidents and their effects on the business.  Also covered will be how to approach cybersecurity at the business level to make risk-based decisions around cybersecurity.  You’ll learn about key planning steps and documentation needed to determine risk, prioritize response, and justify expense.

    Marcus Thompson has been in the IT consulting and service delivery industry for over 20 years.  During that time, he has held technical positions at technology and professional services organizations.  In 2004 he founded Expedient Technology Solutions with the goal in mind of delivering high level technology and technology services to small to medium businesses.  Over the years his role has changed from technical in nature to a strategic advisor and cybersecurity consultant.  Marcus has achieved certifications in many areas of technology.  Most recently he achieved the (ISC)2 CISSP and HCISPP certifications, the ISACA CRISC certification, and the Cybersecurity Analyst+ and Security Analytics Professional certifications from CompTIA.

Using my digital forensics and law enforcement cybercrime investigative experience, to guide you through how to accurately investigate the customer activity and trace the financial transactions. We will begin by reviewing the investigation, including the scam, transaction results, forensic evidence, law enforcement response and more. To conclude, we will discover if the stolen $117,000.00 of cryptocurrency is indeed recoverable.
